Siddhartha Gairola is an ELLIS PhD Student, jointly advised by Prof. Bernt Schiele (Max Planck Institute of Informatics, Saarbrücken) and Prof. Francesco Locatello (Institute of Science and Technology, Austria). He is presently associated with both the Max Planck Institute for Informatics and the Institute of Science and Technology, Austria. Presently, he is working towards completing his PhD, that will be awarded (in 2025 tentatively) by the University of Saarland. Previously he was a Pre-docotoral Research Fellow at Microsoft Research (MSR) India, in the Technology for Emerging Markets group where he worked on applications of Computer Vision, Image Processing and Machine Learning to developing low-cost diagnostic solutions for healthcare. At MSR he had the pleasure of being advised by Dr. Mohit Jain and Dr. Nipun Kwatra. Before that he was a Research Intern at Adobe Inc. in the Media and Data Science Research Group. Even before that, he was a Research Assistant at the Center for Visual Information Technology, IIIT-Hyderabad. He has completed his Master's and B.Tech with Honours in Computer Science from IIIT-Hyderabad and was advised by Prof. P.J. Narayanan. His research interests include Computer Vision, Image Processing, and Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning). Siddhartha has also worked as an open source software developer and has participated in Google Summer of Code as a developer for 2 years running 2017 and 2018 for the organization Scilab.
